Strategies
Here you will find some good strategies to use in
Atomic games.

Here is a position were white can simply play pxd5 and
that blows up the knight, But not the bishop, and even force wins! This
position will come up often in Atomic games. And then black plays pxb5
and white plays Qh5! and black does g6 and white plays Qb5!! and force
wins! Black plays kf7 and white plays Qe8#!

The moves to get here were 1. Nh3 f6 2. Nc3 c6 3. e3
g6 4. Ng5 fxg5 5. Nd5 cxd5 6. Qf3 Nf6 7. Bb5 Nc6 8. Qd5 Here the queen
is threatening f7 and d7, But black can't defend both squares! So
black decides to play kxd5, But doing that opens the bishop for attack!
So white plays bxd7 kxd5 didn't work because it destroys the queen and
two knights but not the bishop! That's two cases were the bishop came in
handy, Always remember bishops are very useful for these kind of
positions! And also sacking knights is very useful in games. I'll add
some more cool strategies when I find some more. But these are the about
the only types of strategies there are.

Here it appears white is going to lose, But white has
a pretty nice strategy that wins this. White plays bb5! Then black does
Kd8 then white plays rc1!! and black can't escape the forced loss.
Blacks best chance is to play e5 then white plays rc8 black plays ke7
(only possible move) and white does rxf8 and wins. This is a skill you
should learn, It will really help you in Atomic matches.

Here white wins with Qh5 and black must play g6 to
"stay alive" and white then plays Qh6 And black can't stop the forced
win. Or is it a forced win? Black plays Qh4!!! and then whites best move
is Qxh4, So black stays "alive" This is a very useful strategy.

This position looks almost identical to last position
with one exception, And that is that blacks pawn is on f6 instead of f5
So now white plays Qh5! And black defends with g6 (again only response)
And white plays Qh6!! and black can't win, Blacks "best" move is e5 and
then white plays Qf8 and black plays Kd7 and then white does Qxd8 and
wins.

Here white wins with Qb3! and black plays be6 and
white plays pxe5 (Notice that white couldn't play that earlier because
of Qxd1 for black, So white got his/her queen out of the way of fire,
While also attacking the king!) And after white plays pxe5 black loses
and can only play e6 or e5 and then white plays Qf7# (after e6 or e5)

Now white plays Qxh5 (seems crazy doesn't it?) But now
black must play bh3 to go on playing the game a little longer and white
plays pxh3 and black plays Kf7 and white plays rh7 then black plays Kg6
and white plays rh6 then black moves Kg7 or Kg5 and white plays rxf6 (after Kg7 or Kg5)

Here white wins with Qh5! and black plays g6 and then
white plays Qd5 and that attacks both the squares d8 and f7 and that
would be a forced win, But black can do Qxd5, And after black plays Qxd5
white plays bxe8 and that destroys the king! This is a cool strategy
that will come up in atomic games allot. If you were white at FICS in
this line black couldn't play Qxd5 when white plays Qd5 because
that would form check, So black would play Qd6 (instead of Qxd5 which is
an illegal move at FICS) and white would play Qf7 and blacks only move
is Kd7 and then white plays Qxe7 and wins or bxc6 and wins.

Here we will play a really cool strategy that involves
the pawn! Here white plays d6!! and black plays e5 (best move) And then
white plays e7! And then white is killing black. So black plays Ke7 and
white plays pxc8 and its an obvious winning position for white. White
also has pxg4 or pxe5! Almost any rank Atomic player could win this now.

Here it would seem that you would go strait for the
piece gain with Qc7, But no, There is a win here. Forget piece gain.
What do you think white should play? | 1. Nb5 cxb5
2. Bb5 Nc6 3. Qd6 and forced | (Highlight between the | |s when
you're ready for the answer.) This line will come up often in Atomic
games, Therefore its good to learn it now.
