MAP REQUESTS

 

New for Oct 2007: I converted TopoUSA's .AN1 files to KML using the latest GPSBabel. I made individual KML files to import into Google Earth one at a time, in case you want bits and pieces of the Blue Grid. I have to warn you though: if you continually zoom in and out while looking at grid lines using Google Earth, after a while it might bug out your eyes and possibly make them hurt.

There's already a KMZ file for the Becker-Hagens grid. If you want me to make the extra EarthStar lines to add to that KMZ file, let me know.


If you want to make all the maps on your own, you'll need Delorme's Topo USA program.  Then you'll just download these Transfer Files and import them into Topo USA:

BlueGrid.dmt - this is the Blue Grid (not in the same place as the Becker-Hagens grid)

EarthStar.dmt - this is the Becker-Hagens grid (red lines)

If you need a map around the world, please note:

If the point is anywhere in the USA, I can zoom in as far as you need (to level 15).

If the point is anywhere outside the USA other than the poles, I can only zoom in to level 7, which is good enough to show you the major roads.

If the point is near the North Pole or South Pole, I have to use XPLANET to make a map, because it's the only program I have that makes orthographic projections.
